I am so excited to be at True Knits Art Show again! I look forward to seeing you all there at my Wired Whimzee Table!
Hatchling, this is another test knit baby sweater. its going quickly and I am really enjoying how it is looking. the stitch definition is amazing. I am using Rowan Wool Cotton and I have to say even though its cotton, it doesn't feel like it is, it doesn't dry out your hands like cotton does, and it isn't hard to knit like cotton sometimes is. Must have something to do with the 50% of Merino Wool mixed into the cotton...lol.
This one is just a knit. I found this pattern called Ravi in adult size, and I really liked it but I wanted to see how much before I commit to an adult size, so luckily the designer has a Ravi Junior, that I could knit up first!
It is a really quick knit, and the construction is great, knitting the yoke first using short rows, and then picking up sts along the edge to knit down the body. best of all its mostly garter stitch so its easy peasy!
I also have my mom's shawl to work on, but because the test knit is due soon, I have only been working on it maybe 1 row a day, just to say I did something on it. With the rows being over 300 sts long, they take me a while to do a repeat of the pattern. I am very close to the lace part of the shawl. I think I have decided, if i didn't before, that I will put in silver beads, I just need to figure our how many I want to use. The beads will go in the lace part and make the edging shiny and beautiful!
I competed in my very first 1/2 Marathon.
Finishing at 4:01 I was overwhelmed with emotion. It is the greatest feeling in the world to compete and finish, especially since the race was a struggle for me. Hurting myself about 2 miles in, I walked the rest of the way with an extremely sore hip. Then I got to the last 3 miles of the race, and it was not only a struggle for me physically but mentally as well. I just about quit.
Its hard for me to admit that, but when you are hurting so bad, and all alone on the trail thoughts go through your head. But luckily I was able to overcome those thoughts and fears and finish.
I sent in my registration for this years Marathon on September 8, 2013, that's 173 days away from today! And I am ready to gear up and start my training.
Since the marathon I have been running about once a week, and not really consistently, so I need to really get back on track.
This year I have 3 goals.
1. to lose more weight
2. to finish with a better time.
3. not stop running after the marathon, but to make it a part of my daily life again, instead of once a week if I felt like it.
I hope to post progress from time to time here, to help motivate me. And Maybe I can inspire others too :).
Refrigerator Oatmeal, make it ahead and eat it all week. No cooking involved, these 8 dishes took me an hour to make and they are all healthy!
I found this great Blog via Pintrest, and she shares quite a few recipes for this oatmeal. So I thought I would test it out!
The Yummy Life
In mine I used Lara's GF Rolled Oats, the Chia seeds I found at Old Fashion Foods, and the rest I was able to pick up at Safeway. The containers I used were the twist off Ziploc ones that you can pick up almost anywhere, I figured these would be better for on the go breakfasts then a glass jar for me...lol.
I even tried a few mixtures of my own like Raspberry Plum, and Peaches, and Apple Walnut. I think the combos are endless!
I volunteered to do some test knitting, should only take a few days to make this, I started last night. Then I will get back to my other projects!
I am just about at the lace of my Mom's Haruni Shawl, since having to rip back about 20-30 rows because of Kirby all is on track now and I should be able to make my date goal with that one!
And my sweater is coming along as well, I have about 4 inches done on the body of the sweater.
I have A Jewelry Sale coming Up in a month, and I am really excited about that. I have some new findings coming in and I hope they arrive in time to include them in some pieces for the sale as well!
